Digipak research:

This digipak contained a little booklet with pictures in, this could be good for my group because we have  a lot of pictures and it is hard to choose which ones, to place on our digipak. This booklet shows the band being fun and carefree within their lives. Which is just like our video.

For a music video to be made this has to happen;

The Commissioner set a sends a track to 5- 10 Directors, where they then submit a treatment, this work at the moment is unpaid, The director who has submitted the 'best' is selected by the commissioner to make the video.

Filming Six;

The other day we went to our local park to film in front of a graffiti wall. However when we reached the park we had found that the graffiti had been painted over, therefore we filmed in front of some red colored leaves and a brick wall. The characters of our video dressed in modern 'gangster' clothing to link with the what we thought was going to be graffiti background.

What did I learn from The preliminary task?

When Filming the preliminary task, I realised that it wasn't as easy as it looked to sing along to a song in time and make sure that you are able to see your lip sync, but to help this you can sing out loud and film whole takes of the song so you can choose bits when editing. However the main problem was whilst editing, as we thought we would try to make a split screen, which ended up as lots of clips (although all in time) popping up everywhere and covering other bits as it was all slightly confusing as we had so many different layers.

Case Study;

Director; Jamie Thraves
Jamie Thraves created short films during his time at university. One of his films won an award and used it as a 'calling card' to begin his career with video production company Factory Films. He began this by shooting three very low budget music videos costing roughly £5,000 each.
Most recent video - japanese popstars- song for Lisa
Currently the videos cost about £20,000 and the shooting time is 2days.

Jamie's Tips; Use the lyrics and try not to be too literal, and most importantly go with the emotions of the lyrics.
